Interested in oriental decoration?Nov 07, 2008

There has been a growing interest in decorating with Chinese items, or in the Chinese style. This book, lavish with full color photographs, is sure to be useful to anyone with a taste for Asian style.
The book also covers a variety of styles, from the modern to the very antique. It gives you a background overview of Ming and Qing dynasty furniture, and shows how rooms are decorated in China. Bamboo curtains and textiles with pendant ornaments, silk cushions, and lacquerware pieces combine beautifully.
What is especially nice about this book is that it shows uses of lovely antiques in new ways--such as taking a camphorwood trunk and using it with a large blue and white boowl as a washbasin in a bathroom. Then there is a clearly modern room, built in the western style, but made to look brand new by the use of subtle bamboo, and a sense of nature and calm that is clearly Asian-inspired. One interesting picture shows a basement made into a very elegant Asian-inspired home theater.
Whatever your interest in Chinese decoration, this book is bound to be useful.
Nice Chinese Decorating BookJan 29, 2012

I liked this book a lot and will find it a useful addition to my library of Asian decorating books. It has 195 pages with full color photos on them so lots and lots of different ideas for Asian decorating with the emphasis of course on Chinese decorating. There is an eclectic mix of both traditional and more modern decors and accessories. There is not much text in this book so those looking for that may want to look for a different book. A good value for the reasonable price though.
