Niwaki: Pruning, Training & Shaping Japanese Garden TreesAug 26, 2010 It gives some basic information about shaping which is critical to the process, but I was hoping for a much more in-depth discussion on such matters as tools to use, approach to accomplish the end result, step by step processes of different examples of the same tree and different types of trees, how to approach mature bushes that you want to change to Japanese influenced, etc.
Niwaki: Pruning, Training, and Shaping Japanese Garden TreesMay 19, 2010 My order was received in the condition I expected. It was a new book for all intents and purposes. It was received within approximately 4 or 5 days from the order date in the mail. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and find the vender a very reputable dealer and would recommend them to others.
Good oveviewApr 25, 2010 The book gives a good, clear and practical overview how to create japanese "topiary". There are many drawings giving a step-by-step instruction on how to proceed. The picture from the author are a bit flat and many of them have an almost white sky.
AmazingApr 12, 2010 Unlike other books (and many useless websites), this book actually details the steps needed to properly select, shape, and maintain plants in a Japanese style garden

Very good bookMay 06, 2009 I haven't read this book thoroughly yet but I can see how well written and ilustrated it is. I think it will be very helpful for me in the near future when I finish building my next japanese garden. I am motivated to try practicing the niwaki techniques explained in this book. I am positive it will be helpful because it has lots of "how-to" drawings, photos, and good explanations.
