This propaganda poster was originally printed for the celebration of the 17th anniversary of (communist) China. It is not an original from that era, however it is made in the same fashion and printed on similarly primitive papers. Mao Zedong was the leader of Chinas communist party from 1946 until his death in 1976. To this day he is a controversial figure both in China and around the world. He is considered both a great revolutionary leader and the single most destructive force in Chinas cultural history. Regardless of your opinion these posters are important cultural relics and allow a unique glimpse into Chinas complex past.
