This is an original hand painted water color from Shanghi China. The scene is of two scallors engaged in the ancient game of Go or "yi". Also called Weiqi in China, the game dates back to at least the 4th century BC with popular stories in Chinese culture dating it back as far as 2258 BC. Go has long been considered a pilliar of higher learning and aristocracy in China and even Confucius makes reference to the game. This painting pays tribute to the stretegic pasttime, which spred to Korea, Japan and thoughout Asia by the 13th century and is now played all over the world.
